Why Girls Aloud's new single Something New has saved Christmas

Okay maybe not Christmas, but they’ve definitely saved party season. Something New, Girls Aloud‘s first single in three years, was released today and quickly flew around the world faster than Felix Baumgartner. Our verdict? LOVE.

Let’s be honest. As we plunge into the bleak darkness of winter, we needed a bit of Girls Aloud right now.

Something New has it all – it’s super dancey-dancey which makes it a party season must-play, it has no-brainer lyrics that you can sing along to even after knocking back a couple glasses of Sauv Blanc and Girls Aloud even dabble in some pretty cool quasi-rap.

If this single was food, I wouldn’t be able to eat it faster. It wouldn’t even matter if it wasn’t low-fat cos I could dance it off!

I know I’ll get flack for saying this, but Little Mix aren’t doing it for me. I’m relieved their dull debut Wings has almost flown off the charts for good and their newest single DNA is, well, blah.

I’ve listened to it one and a half times and I’m already over it. There’s a small chance I’ll change my mind once I’ve seen the video but I doubt it.

I feel bad, because I did vote for Little Mix to win last year, but I’m just not feeling it.

As far as I’m concerned, Little Mix should be taking detailed notes. Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh are about to pack dance floors, get the champagne flowing and send roofs flying.

Cheers to that!
