Cher Lloyd was born to parents Darren and Diane, who are of Romany origin. The trio traveled around Wales in a caravan in the first year of Cher’s life.

She has three younger siblings named Sophie, Josh and Rosie.

After the family had settled in Malvern, Cher studied performing arts at Dyson Perrins High School. She was also a pupil at part-time theatre school Stagecoach.

In 2010, Cher Lloyd auditioned for The X Factor with a rendition of Keri Hilson’s cover of the Soulja Boy hit Turn My Swag On.

Even though Cher was suffering from tonsillitis at the judges’ houses stage of the contest, Cheryl Cole saw real potential in the young singer and took her through to the live shows.

The singer wowed the public with performances of songs such as Rihanna and Eminem’s tune Love The Way You Lie and Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On.

She reached the final but was eliminated in fourth place.

Cher Lloyd had tried out for the show on two previous occasions but failed to impress researchers enough to be put before Simon Cowell and his panel.

Since The X Factor, Cher has enjoyed an impressive career both in the UK and in the States.

She has a number of Top 10 singles to her name and has recorded collaborations with influential artists including Demi Lovato, Snoop Dogg and rapper TI.

Cher has also found success outside of the music industry. She was signed by Select in 2012, a model agency with Agyness Deyn on their books.

In November 2013, Cher confirmed that she’d married hair stylist Craig Monk by sharing a picture from the pair’s wedding on Instagram.
