Now went along to the Downton press day yesterday and got a sneak peek of the new series...

We love Downton Abbey at Now (specifically me, our official TV Addict).

So yesterday’s Downton screening and press day was a dream come true for me.

Though I’m not allowed to reveal much at all (on pain of death!), the first episode of series four was everything I expected – and more.

Rob James-Collier (the tortured, evil butler, Thomas, and my personal fave character) is as bad to the bone as ever (and has an amazingly twisted storyline in the first episode).

It’s now the 1920s and the costumes are just FAB. Prepare to drool – and want to stitch beads to everything (get gone, Great Gatsby – it’s Downton that’ll properly set the fashion agenda for Christmas parties this year).

And, of course, there’s the big Christmas twist that we’re all still struggling to deal with – the sudden death of Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens).

Lady Mary is not really ready to move on from Matthew, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t interest from other men in her life,’ says executive producer Gareth Neame.

‘We have some new characters on set.’
