The singer had an anxiety attack

X Factor finalist James Arthur was terrified when he collapsed backstage at The X Factor two weeks ago.

The tattooed guitarist was treated by paramedics outside the studio for a panic attack but he’d been convinced that he was suffering from something more serious.

‘I thought I was going to die. I really thought I was going to die,’ says James, 24.

‘I had some pains ruffling through my arms and chest. I thought it was a heart attack.’

James is finding it tough dealing with the pressures of the competition and his sudden rise to fame.

The singer’s mentor Nicole Scherzinger is said to be keeping a ‘close eye’ on him and James is trying hard not to let his worries affect his performances.

James is being a trouper and has vowed to carry on but he nearly went at least twice. He is really struggling with it all,’ a source tells The People.

‘[He’s] doing everything he can to make sure that he is giving himself the best chance at being able to stay in the competition and get as far as he can.’
