Shona was written out of EastEnders for being repeatedly late

EastEnders star Shona McGarty has promised to curb her wild lifestyle after returning to the BBC soap’s set from a month-long suspension.

The actress – who plays Whitney Dean in the show – was sent home without pay after she upset bosses by repeatedly turning up late to work.

‘I’ve learnt my lesson,’ says Shona, 20.

‘I realise how lucky I am. I’m just going to stay in now. I’m going to try and be good.’

Shona was reportedly fined around £3,000 to cover the EastEnders crew’s overtime costs when shoots ran late due to her bad timekeeping.

She’s been told that she faces being written out of the programme for good if she doesn’t improve her behaviour – but Shona is determined that this won’t happen.

‘It’s like a big family on EastEnders,’ Shona tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘I am going to buy one of those big old-fashioned alarm clocks with the bells on it!’
