Actress Lisa says her grief is still 'very raw'

Ex-Emmerdale star Lisa Riley was heartbroken when her mum Cath passed away just weeks before she started training for Strictly Come Dancing.

Cath, 57, died in Lisa‘s arms this July after a 12-year battle with breast cancer.

‘It is devastating and still very raw,’ says Lisa, 36.

‘She was at my house. The entire family was there and we laughed together on the morning that she passed away.

‘That was mum. It was wonderful. She had dignity. She was fun and smiles to the very, very end.’

Cath was ‘elated’ when Lisa told her shortly before she died that she was set to appear on this year’s series of Strictly.

The actress is sure her mum was watching over her when she and dance partner Robin Windsor topped the scoreboard for their cha-cha to Aretha Franklin‘s Think on Saturday night’s show.

‘The cha-cha was hard because you have to move to every single beat,’ Lisa tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘I thought I should be on my couch watching but I’m not, I’m really doing it. It’s really happening.’
