Kate eventually landed role of Tracy Barlow

Kate Ford has revealed just how determined she was to get a role on Coronation Street.

The actress, who plays feisty Tracy Barlow in the soap, admits she inundated the show with requests to join the cast when she was younger… for 10 YEARS!

‘As a teenager, I used to write to the Coronation Street casting director, telling her I wanted to be an actress and suggesting ways I could be in the show,’ says Kate, 36.

‘I probably wrote every year for 10 years asking if I could come in for an audition.’

Kate’s resolve clearly paid off. She discovered that her letters had been remembered when she eventually landed the role of Tracy Barlow several years later at the age of 24.

‘It was the same casting director and she cast me in the part,’ the brunette star says.

‘She said she remembered all the letters I wrote as a child. So I got there in the end!’

Kate Ford finally achieved her dream of being in Coronation Street when she first appeared as Tracy in 2002.

During her time on the Corrie cobbles Kate’s seen Tracy get up to all sorts of schemes.

She tried to sell her baby to Roy and Hayley Cropper, murdered cheating ex-boyfriend Charlie Stubbs and more recently discovered that her latest beau Rob Donovan had killed Tina McIntyre.

Having been left heartbroken by Rob’s crime, there was more trouble for Tracy over Christmas.

‘The thing with Tracy is that when she’s hurt, then she is vicious,’ Kate Ford told The Sun last year.

‘And because she’s so hurt, you’re really going to see her bitchy and nasty side.’
