The singer is too busy to find out if he likes his ex-mentee's music

Tom Jones has admitted that he hasn’t listened to The Voice winner Leanne Mitchell‘s album.

The Welsh singer, 72, mentored Leanne, 29, on the BBC talent show last year but is yet to find the chance to hear her self-titled debut record, which was released last month.

‘I’ve got the album but haven’t listened to it yet. But I’ve heard the new single, If I Knew Then, and I think she’s done a great job on it,’ says Tom.

‘Like everybody does, she needed time to live with the music then put it out.’

Unfortunately for Leanne, her record’s sold fewer than 1,000 copies and has only managed to reach No 134 on the UK Top 40.

This follows the disappointment of her first single Run To You, which peaked at No 45 on the chart when it was released a day after the show’s final.

Tom reckons the song was ‘rushed’ and ‘not enough time was taken with her’ – but his Voice rival Danny O’Donoghue has a different opinion.

‘It would be my worry that if the winner waited five or six months to put anything out,’ Danny, 32, tells The Sun.

‘I’ve had conversations with all my team about having their songs ready and being ready for the onslaught.’
