Ella's grandfather inspired her to sing

Ella Henderson stunned viewers with her powerful first audition on The X Factor.

The talent show hopeful’s self-penned track called Missed was inspired by her late grandfather Bill, who died when she was nine from lung cancer.

‘It would be lovely if he could see me now,’ says Ella, 16.

‘When I’m performing in the studios, I picture him sat at the back where the light beams on to me.

‘He is someone who whenever I perform I will always think about.’

Ella didn’t go to Bill‘s funeral because she was so young when he passed away.

This remains her biggest regret, so she’s planning to visit the place he’s buried once the show has finished.

‘The funeral was up in Scotland and I haven’t been there to see his gravestone either,’ she tells the Daily Mirror.

‘Now I am older I need to go up there to say my goodbyes to him.’
