The Devil Wears Prada star's new do

The Now fashion girls drew a collective gasp when we saw the latest photos of Anne Hathaway with a Parisian pixie crop.

Anne was on the set of One Day, a film adapted from the David Nicholls book, and her character Emma Morley moves to Paris and completes her lifestyle makeover with a daring new Mia Farrow inspired do.

Speaking exclusively to Now online, celebrity hairdresser Ben Cooke – who tends to the tresses of Leona Lewis and Amanda Holden – explains:

‘The gamine crop is fantastic and we are seeing it making a huge return. This looks great on anyone who has a square jaw line as it instantly softens angular shapes, while the soft fringe emphasises your eyes and cheek bones.

‘This classic 60s crop and is ultra sleek, so do avoid this cut if your hair is naturally very thick and curly as it will be hard to manage.

‘Make sure you ask for feathered ends and minimal layers – as you want to avoid your hair looking too spiky. A side parting is essential to keep the cut sophisticated.

Anne Hathaway is known for playing it safe, so it’s no surprise that this is a wig. This choppy crop frames her face beautifully and really brings out the angular shapes in her face, while the softening lengths at the front of her hair keep the style looking ultra feminine and maintains Anne’s classic and elegant image.

‘Texture and shine is key to keeping this style looking fresh and feminine, and without this it can look quite boyish. Keep your hair sleek by washing with a frizz-busting shampoo.

‘Try Herbal Essences Seductively Straight Shampoo and Conditioner. Once dry, simply work a little wax into the tips of your hair to enhance the choppy style and maintain a natural hold, and finish with a shine spray for a glossy and glamorous look.’
