The family say they're standing together in statement
The family have denied rumours of a feud in a statement released about the footage but haven’t given any details about what caused Solange, 27, to apparently lash out at her brother-in-law.
‘As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,’ the statement to Associated Press reads.
‘But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.
‘They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.
‘The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behaviour throughout that evening are simply false.
‘At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.’
The incident occurred during a Met Ball after party at New York’s Standard Hotel on 5 May.
In the shocking CCTV footage Solange looks as though she’s shouting at her brother-in-law before hitting and kicking him.
Jay, 44, attempts to fend Solange off – although he never strikes her – while Beyoncé, 32, stands by without getting physically involved.
The family’s message of unity comes after Solange posted a cute childhood photo of her and Bey on Instagram for #throwbackthursday yesterday, despite removing pictures of her sibling earlier this week.
