Brit-pop band confirm gig dates for next year

Blur have revealed they will play a series of concerts next year.

The Brit-pop band – Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree – have not released an album since 2003’s Think Tank.

‘It just felt it was right again,’ lead singer Damon tells NME. ‘It somehow feels like there’s something for us to do again, we’re not completely useless or pointless, we’ve got a reason to exist.’

They have announced they’ll play London’s Hyde Park on 3 July.

‘We’ll do something in London because that seems sensible,’ Damon says. ‘But we’re also playing in other parts of the country working up to there.’

The reunion will see guitarist Graham return after publicly falling out with the other band members and quitting Blur 6 years ago.

Blur, who will release a new album next year, are rumoured to be headlining the Glastonbury festival.

Tickets for the Hyde Park show go on sale at 9am on 12 December.
