Chezza is backing her 'friend' Lauren

Cheryl Cole has broken her social media silence to send a touching message in support of her pal Lauren Silverman, aka Simon Cowell’s girlfriend.

Lauren – who is the mother of Simon’s four-year-old son Eric – is taking part in a charity walk for a children’s hospice and Cheryl has encouraged her fans to back her by donating if they can.

Cheryl, 34, shared a sweet photo of Lauren and Simon with a young woman via Instagram Stories on Wednesday and wrote: ‘My friend Lauren is walking 10km for @sschospices, a truly amazing cause.

‘Please swipe up for details on how to help her on her quest! No matter how big or small. Thank you’

The singer also included a written message from Lauren – who has an older son called Adam from her marriage to Andrew Silverman – explaining why she is undertaking the challenge.

‘As a mum of 2 boys, I can’t begin to imagine what families of children with life-limiting conditions go through,’ Lauren wrote.

‘Shooting Star Chase provides palliative care and support for these families. As patrons of the charity it is very dear to mine and Simon’s hearts.’

Lauren, 40, will be doing a 10km ‘sunrise walk’ on 3 June to raise funds for the cause.

Cheryl is clearly keen to get as much support as possible for Lauren and tweeted the post too, resulting in lots of sweet messages from her followers who are getting on board.

‘Best of luck, this is such a good cause,’ one wrote, whilst another said: ‘good luck lauren what an amazing thing to do!!’

The cause obviously means a lot to Cheryl as it marks the first time she’s tweeted since March.

Since the birth of baby son Bear 14 months ago the star has been keeping a pretty low profile, though has recently been working on her upcoming fifth solo album – yay!

She also made her usual appearance at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month as a ambassador for L’Oreal where she looking as glamorous and gorgeous as you’d expect.
