Gary films an ITV special with servicemen and women
Gary Barlow put a smile on troops’ faces when he paid a visit to Afghanistan this week.
The X Factor judge, 42, flew to see members of the Army, Navy and RAF after Sunday night’s results programme and filmed an ITV special with them on Monday.
‘He spent lots of time meeting people on the front-line and enjoyed chatting to them. On the show, he will be finding out what life is like in camp,’ a source tells the Daily Mirror.
‘He listened to their stories and they told him how much they missed their families. He even performed some songs. Lots of the servicemen and women were saying his visit was a real boost.’
Gary – who was awarded an OBE last year – took lots of photos with comrades.
He held up a piece of paper reading: ‘Hello Peyton. Daddy misses you loads xxx’ for the lucky daughter of one soldier to read at home.
‘You just met my Dad and had a photograph with my EP! I would LOVE to email or send it to you? DAY MADE!’ Tweeted a fan back in the UK.
Another wrote: ‘My brother got to meet @GaryBarlow I’m so jealous right now!!’
