The TV presenter spent Tuesday night in custody

Melanie Sykes has been arrested and cautioned after an assault on her toy boy husband Jack Cockings.

Jack, 27, is believed to have dialled 999 after a ferocious row with TV presenter Mel, 43, at their £1 million home in Hampstead, west London on Tuesday night.

The couple had earlier enjoyed a party in central London, where they were said to be in ‘good spirits’ as they left at 8.30pm.

Mel got engaged to roofer Jack last August after a whirlwind four-month romance that was sparked by sexy Twitter messages and they wed in May.

She recently described him as her ‘equal’ and said that he ‘makes her happier than she’s ever been’.

On Tuesday morning, she Tweeted: ‘not ready to face the world today X’ before telling her followers: ‘I’m not grumpy I’m just tired!’

It’s thought that Mel spent the night in custody after her argument with Jack.

‘A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taken to a north London police station,’ says a Metropolitan Police spokesman.

‘She has since been given a caution for common assault. The victim, a man, did not require hospital treatment.’

A spokesman for Mel declined to comment to the Daily Mirror last night.
