Davina McCall is refreshingly honest about the struggle of being a parent and holding down a demanding career
She’s worked hard to get to her position but Davina McCall has confessed she feels guilty ‘all the time’ about her career because it takes her away from her kids.
And she’s not the only one, the mother-of-three revealed that she often discusses her worries about work/life balance with fellow celeb mum Claudia Winkleman.
Speaking at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Awards, she said: ‘As a working mother I spend my life just feeling guilty. Every single job I take on whether at home or abroad, I go through absolute dramas about should I take it on or not take it on. Claudia is like that and Jo Whiley is like that too. We all feel guilty.
‘We all talk and it’s quite nice to share that. I talk about it with any working mum that I ever meet even on the street. We all know how the other one feels but it’s a reality that women have to work nowadays, while being parents and we have to find a way of juggling everything. It’s hard.’
Davina, 47 – who is mum to Holly, 13, Tilly, 11, and Chester, seven with husband Matthew Robertson – even revealed she would never do Strictly Come Dancing because the commitment would take her away from her family.
She added: ‘I’ve been so tempted to do Strictly with all the dancing and the costumes and the shushing but it’s the time they put in to get that dance perfect on the Saturday. It’s non-stop working all week and even at the weekends. I just wouldn’t see the kids.’
