Is there still Bad Blood between these two?
The pair have taken thinly-veiled swipes at each other on various occasions and then things went up a notch when Taylor released Bad Blood, a tune about a friendship gone sour which was widely rumoured to be about Ms Perry.
Now Katy is about to release her fourth album and everybody wants to know if she’s snuck in a response to Taylor’s song on there…
So has she? Here’s what the 32-year-old had to say when asked if she’d included a Bad Blood clap back.
‘Well that’s not my question to answer,’ she explains. ‘If it’s about me. I think [my new album is] a very empowered record. There is no one thing that’s calling out any one person.’
Does this mean that Katy is hitting back at several enemies then?!
‘One thing to note is: You can’t mistake kindness for weakness and don’t come for me,’ the Chained To The Rhythm star tells EW. ‘Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone.
‘And that’s not to any one person and don’t quote me that it is, because it’s not.
‘It’s not about that. Honestly, when women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story.’
Well that’s that then. Katy might be trying to send a message of peace but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten any fallouts she’s had…
‘Let me say this: Everything has a reaction or a consequence so don’t forget about that, okay, honey,’ she laughs. ‘We got to keep it real, honey.
‘This record is about me being seen and heard so that I can see and hear everyone else! It’s not even about me!’
Ooh-er, intriguing! This is just the latest event in the Katy and Taylor saga, which is thought to have started way back in 2012 when three of Katy’s former dancers left Taylor’s Red World Tour to re-join the Dark Horse singer.
In 2014 Taylor, 27, dropped a hint about the spat when she explained that Bad Blood is about a woman in the industry who she became ‘straight-up enemies’ with after claiming this mystery lady tried to ‘sabotage an entire arena tour’ by hiring out her people.
‘So now I have to avoid her,’ she told Rolling Stone magazine. ‘It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.’
Katy famously hit back on Twitter a day later by cryptically referencing Mean Girls, writing: ‘Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…’
Will these two ever kiss and make up? We can but hope…
