This is gonna be emotional...
It’s been eight long years since Fern Britton gave up her spot on the This Morning sofa, but now she is set to return to the daytime TV show – hurrah!
The former host – who was a firm favourite with fans – will appear on today’s show (13th April) in what bosses are calling a ‘reunion’.
The star will be on the couch reserved for guests (you know, the one on the right) rather than the hosting sofa as she and husband Phil Vickery drop in to talk about their new show Culinary Genius, which also features Gordon Ramsay.
Sadly Fern won’t be reunited with her former co-host Philip Schofield either, as regular viewers will know that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are currently covering the show during the Easter holidays.
Fern hosted the show alongside silver fox Phil for 10 years before quitting in 2009, and hasn’t been back since – which is sure to make for an emotional return today.
The star tweeted her excitement over the appearance, saying: ‘On my way to @thismorning ! First time in eight years. Feeling nostalgic and excited to old friends 💋💋💋’
And This Morning staff are just as excited about having Fern back, even if just for one day.
A show source said: ‘It’ll be fantastic to have Fern visit This Morning again, she will have worked with many of the team on and off screen and will be a nice little reunion and chance to catch up.’
Fern was of course replaced by current This Morning host Holly Willoughby, whose absence due to illness last week brought another presenting favourite back to our screens – Phil’s old Going Live co-host Sarah Greene!
Gosh, what an exciting week and a half it’s been at the ITV studio…
