It looks like The X Factor judges line-up will be pretty different this year
The singer, 32, will bow out after two years back on the show and will focus on recording her new album. Chezza was reportedly hoping to come back but boss Simon Cowell has decided to change things up.
‘Cheryl would love to get the gig but Simon’s not so keen,’ a source tells Now. ‘It didn’t work with Cheryl last year.
‘People think Simon has been giving her reasons not to come back. Cheryl was hoping her relationship with Liam Payne would give her an edge if he helped her out at judges’ houses but Simon doesn’t seem interested.’
Cheryl confirmed the news in a statement given to The Sun’s Dan Wootton this morning which he posted on Twitter.
‘I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent,’ she says.
‘But I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again. I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits.’
Simon also added: ‘I totally understand her commitment to making more records.’
Chezza has been working on her new music project in America recently, where she’s also been spending time with One Direction star boyfriend Liam.
‘Music is her number one passion and she has just started working on a new album which she wants out later this year,’ an insider tells The Sun.
‘She’s having a great time in the US with Liam and getting back to her pop roots.’
The news comes amid a massive X Factor shake-up which has seen Chezza’s fellow judge Nick Grimshaw quit after just one year on the panel.
Presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs have also bowed out and original host Dermot O’Leary is making a sensational return, despite quitting after eight years of fronting the series.
There’s no news directly from X Factor yet on who will be filling the judges’ seats this year but Louis Walsh is thought to be coming back to the fold.
