Carl Davies threatened to stab the popstar
The ex-boyfriend of Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts has been given a lifetime restraining order against the star after he bombarded her with threatening messages and stalked her for five years.
Carl Davies, a former Army veteran, threatened to stab and burn his former girlfriend after making 35 fake social media accounts from which he sent 3000 Twitter and Instagram messages.
The barrage of disturbing messages started back in 2012, and Carl often used knife and fire emojis to threaten the 31-year-old but also sent the singer bouquets of flowers.
Nicola, who split with Carl in 2008 after an 18-month relationship, ignored all the messages but eventually contacted the police when her ex began to threaten close pal and R n’ B singer, Joel Compass and Carl was arrested in February of this year.
It was reported at the time they were engaged during their short relationship but a string of public rows led to the the young star calling time on their relationship.
In an impact statement read to Judge Jonathan Black at Guildford Crown Court, Nicola spoke about her previous relationship with Carl, stating: ‘The messages he sent reminded me of all the terrible things that happened when we were together.
‘It was only really last year when he started threatening my friend that I realised things couldn’t go on and I reported it to the police.’
The star continued: ‘I feel safe in my own home knowing he can’t get to me.’
Before adding: ‘I am worried for when Carl gets out and when he access again to a mobile phone.’
Carl Davies has now been handed a life-time restraining order against the pop star and her pal, Joel and was warned not to go within 250 metres of the pair.
He was also 15-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after he admitted one count of stalking and another count of persistent use of public communication network to cause annoyance or inconvenience.
