Her Majesty will overtake the record previously set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

And what a reign it’s been! In her 63-plus years as Queen, Her Maj has travelled to far flung places, steered the country through tough times -and met many a famous face along the way.

Back in 1997 she had the pleasure of meeting The Spice Girls, who thankfully refrained from covering Her Maj in red lipstick – as they did when they met her son, Prince Charles, a few months earlier!

Then there’s the time that Her Maj met Madge. And, whilst Madonna may be one of the most iconic pop stars of all time, Queenie had a little trouble recognising her when the pair met at the 2002 premiere of Bond film Die Another Day.

When she was told that Madonna had performed the movie’s theme song, she replied, ‘Oh really, did you?’ – before swiftly moving on. Ouch!

And she’s not the only one to slip Her Maj’s mind – in 2011, Charlotte Church complained to Esquire magazine: ‘I’ve met [the Queen] about seven times and she never remembers me.’

She went on to cause outrage by saying: ‘When you get close to her you realise she’s an old woman … I feel really sorry for her. She probably doesn’t want to be wheeled out at every Royal Variety Performance to watch scantily clad dancers and sh*tty comedians.’

Language, Churchy – that’s the Queen you’re talking about!

One celeb meeting we reckon she has no trouble remembering is the time she met male supermodel David Gandy on a visit to Battersea Dogs Home. Their handshake had Liz grinning from ear to ear  – well, you would be if you got to touch the handsome hunk, wouldn’t you!?
