Will this prove a problem for Olympian Sam?

Sam Quek is an Olympic hockey star so she’s used to taking on challenges, making her an ideal candidate for I’m A Celebrity you’d think.

But the 28-year-old’s family aren’t so sure and have expressed concerns about Sam’s stint in the jungle and what it could mean for her future.

Who is I’m A Celebrity star Sam Quek? Everything you need to know

Sam was part of the Team GB women’s hockey squad who beat favourites Holland to bag a gold medal at this year’s Olympics in Rio, yet some of her relatives are worried that this will be forgotten about due to her I’m A Celeb experience.

‘We’re not bothered if she wins,’ Sam’s sister reveals.

‘What we’re bothered about is whether she’s damaged by the experience – which of course we worry about.’

So far on the show Sam has taken part in a daring Bushtucker Trial which saw her face the Tomb Of Torment with fellow campmates Jordan Banjo, Scarlett Moffatt and Ola Jordan.

She’s also hit the shower with Ola and Scarlett and channelled that famous Myleene Klass moment in a white bikini, something which was apparently a concern for Sam before she entered the jungle.

‘Sam was nervous about going in, and she was a bit worried about what people might say,’ her sister tells the Daily Star. ‘That she might get categorised as nothing more than a swimwear model.’

There’s no doubt that Sam has proved she’s made of tough stuff though.

The sports star bravely skydived into the camp when the celebs arrived and also provided a shoulder to cry on for Scarlett when the Gogglebox favourite broke down in tears ahead of their Bushtucker Trial.

Despite her family’s apparent fears about her reputation, Sam admitted before the show kicked off that she was actually hoping to show a different side to herself.

When quizzed on the biggest misconception she wanted to dispel in the jungle, she replied: ‘That I’m not a hard, emotionless athlete. I do have emotions.’

Sam’s clearly doing something right too, as the bookies are currently ranking her odds above the perhaps better-known Ola and Lisa Snowdon.

Keep up the good work, Ms Quek!
