Georgia reflects after nearly exiting the competition
Despite earning heaps of praise from the judges for their gorgeous Beauty And The Beast-inspired routine, Georgia and partner Giovanni Pernice were forced to perform it again and were eventually chosen over Call The Midwife star Helen George to progress to the semi-finals.
Viewers were stunned to see Georgia and Helen, who were both favourites to win the competition, end up in the bottom two and 24-year-old Georgia is devastated to see Helen leave.
The actress posted a moving Tweet after the show saying: ‘Thank you so much for all your lovely messages.
‘@helen_george you are a beautiful lady and an incredible dancer and you should 100% be in The final. Im so sorry.’
Georgia had actually achieved the second highest score of the night on Saturday’s show, whilst Jay McGuiness topped the leaderboard.
Helen, 31, and partner Aljaž Škorjanec were nearer the lower end of the scoring chart. It was actually Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko who were placed at the bottom though but the duo avoided ending up in the dance-off.
Despite being understandably upset about the whole situation, Georgia is still thrilled to be progressing to the semi-finals and thanked fans for supporting her.
Go, Team GG!
Strictly fans are still in shock that Georgia and Helen were the two who had to face the dance-off and have been sending sweet messages to Georgia to keep her spirits up.
One wrote: ‘both of you was Amazing gutting for Helen but happy for you Georgia xxx’
Another commented: ‘neither of you should have been in the dance off #wrongresult #wrong #travesty #scd #Strictly #wordsfailme’
We bet Georgia and Giovanni will bounce back from this and put on an incredible performance (as always!) next weekend.
