That does not sound good...

Kate Garraway has come under fire for joking about Cheryl‘s weight on Good Morning Britain after she blamed her marriage on her weight loss.

The singer worried fans everywhere when pictures of her looking much thinner than normal emerged. But after her quickie divorce from Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, the Parachute singer claimed that it was marriage stress that caused her to fluctuate weight.

After Richard Arnold told hosts Kate and Ben Shepherd about the claim, the presenter remarked: ‘She’s really ballooned,’ after a picture with new boyfriend Liam Payne appeared on screen.

Kate then added: ‘That’s what counts as putting on weight in Cheryl’s world,’ which caused both Richard and Ben to laugh.

Richard stuck up for the star: ‘She’s now happy with Liam Payne, she’s happy now!’

However, a rep for Kate Garraway told CelebsNow: ‘Kate is mortified that anyone would think that she was mocking Cheryl or her weight problems. From the clip it’s clear that Kate was actually making a sarcastic comment about the fascination with Cheryl’s weight. This is a very sensitive subject for Kate, having suffered scrutiny about her own weight following the birth of Darcey which was due to a thyroid problem. She would never mock anyone with this issue.’

The star confirmed the end of her marriage on Thursday after a hearing that lasted 14 seconds.

A spokesperson said the star ‘and Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained Decree Nisi in their divorce proceedings. No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected.’

She cited her ex-husband’s ‘unreasonable behaviour’ in the divorce papers, which then led to ‘stress and weight loss.’

This comes among mounting rumours that the star is ‘pregnant’ with Liam Payne’s child. These started after the singer disappeared from the public eye for several months, and when she reappeared for a party during Paris Fashion Week, people pointed out what looked like a baby bump.
