'Delighted' Kate Middleton and Prince William will be welcoming a second baby next year, Kensington Palace has confirmed
Prince George, one, is set to become a big brother, after it was revealed the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with her second child.
The Queen and members of both families are ‘delighted’ by the news, which was confirmed in a statement from Clarence House today.
Kate Middleton, 32, is said to be suffering from the acute morning sickness, Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which affected her during her first pregnancy.
It is not known how pregnant Kate is, but the palace said it decided to announce the baby news today after she was forced to pull out of an engagement in Oxford due to her illness. She will instead be ‘treated by doctors at Kensington Palace’.
The statement reads: ‘Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.
‘The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news. As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.
‘Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.’
Kate and husband Prince William’s happy announcement has thrilled her family – but it may not come as quite the surprise to some.
In July, her longtime pal Jessica Hay told an Australian magazine the Duchess was pregnant with her second child.
Kate’s former school friend made the claim after photos emerged showing the usually rosy cheeked Kate looking grey and frail, suggesting she could be suffering from a severe bout of morning sickness.
She said: ‘Kate’s inner circle are buzzing with the news that she is pregnant.
I’ve heard it from several different friends of theirs now and they’re
saying that they think there’s going to be an official announcement in
It is the second time Jessica has broken the news that Kate was expecting – she announced in Novemeber 2012 that a Royal baby announcement was imminent.
Just weeks later the Palace confirmed Kate was in the early stages of her pregnancy with Prince George, who was born on 22 July 2013.
Meanwhile, fashionistas have spotted that Kate had been strategically placing clutch bags and even bouquets over her could-be bump while out in public.
We can’t WAIT to welcome Royal baby no 2 next year!
