Anti-fur protestors angry with opera singer for promoting store

Singer Katherine Jenkins arrived by horse-drawn carriage to open the 2008 Harrods Christmas sale today and was heckled by anti-fur protestors yelling ‘Shame on Harrods’.

Leona Lewis is reported to have turned the job down because Harrods stocks fur coats.

‘Personally I do not eat meat or wear fur, but people are entitled to their opinions,’ Katherine, 28, told BBC reporters.

Owner Mohamed Al Fayed ushered his guest – who was also cheered by music fans – inside the Knightsbridge store.

Over 400 anti-fur campaigners from the Coalition To Abolish The Fur Trade also protested outside top stores Gucci, Escada, Versace, Fendi, Joseph and Armani.
