Pricey has split opinion with this message

Katie Price is never one to shy away from expressing a controversial opinion – and on Friday morning, she proved it again by wading into the conversation regarding footballer Ched Evans and his ongoing rape case.

Welsh footballer Evans was found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman in 2012, and served two-and-a-half years in prison. However, on Thursday (21st April 2016), his rape conviction was ‘quashed’ by the Court of Appeal in London, and was told he’d be trialled again.

Faye Johnson, the sister of footballer Adam Johnson  – who earlier this year was sentenced to six years of prison after being convicted of sexual activity with a child – expressed congratulations for Ched Evans via social media – and received backlash from fans and national media alike.

However, in response to the story of Faye’s support of Ched Evans, Katie tweeted:

‘What’s wrong with a retrial good on anyone trying to defend themselves it’s harsh to pick on @f10aye’

When publicly inserting yourself into a hotly debated topic, it’s expected that the reaction will be swift and sudden – and that’s exactly what happened.

Many expressed distress at the fact that mother-of-five Katie was on the same side of Johnson’s sister: ‘Her brother admitted sexual activity with a child! He ADMITTED it! Why are you not understanding this?’ wrote a horrified follower.

Meanwhile, others sided with her: ‘I totally agree with you hun the justice system is a load of b*ll*cks’ said one fan.
