Kerry broke down as she recalled the experience
Kerry Katona admitted to helping her mum with a suicide attempt when she was younger.
The troubled Atomic Kitten singer confessed on Channel 5’s In Therapy series, which sees celebrities confront their personal issues with the help of a professional counsellor.
The 36-year-old reveals how she snapped at her mother, who was a drug addict and suffered from depression.
She said: ‘I got all her medicines out and said, “Go on, take them, you’re selfish.”’
‘I made her take all the pills, then I rang for an ambulance and told her I’d pick her up after school.’
Luckily, Kerry’s mum Sue wasn’t seriously hurt by the experience, but it seemed to scar Kerry.
The star also admitted that she tattooed the names of her kids onto her wrists to prevent herself from ever attempting to kill herself like her mother.
She continued: ‘If it’s hereditary I’d have to be one selfish person to cut through my kids’ names, so that’s why they’re there.
‘I’m so proud of how my kids have turned out and that’s down to me.’
Kerry Katona has two daughters from her first marriage to Brian McFadden: Lilly-Sue and Molly. She also has a daughter and son with taxi drive Mark Croft, Maxwell and Heidi.
With her current partner, George Kay – who she married in 2014 – she has her youngest daughter, Dylan-Jorge.
In Therapy: Kerry Katona airs Thursday 3rd November at 10pm on Channel 5
