After two years of marriage Avril Lavigne confirms that she and husband Chad Kroeger have ended their relationship
It’s the news we all didn’t want to hear – yet another celeb couple have called it quits and this time it’s Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger.
Yep, after several devastating break-ups lately – Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards, etc. – Avril has confirmed that she and Nickelback frontman Chad are parting ways following two years of marriage.
Avril, 30, shared the sad news in a heartbreaking post on Instagram last night featuring a picture of her and Chad, 40, in happier times on their wedding day.
‘It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,’ the Canadian star wrote.
‘Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other.
‘To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.’
The photo shows the couple laughing together and holding hands at their ceremony in 2013.
Fans of the pair were devastated to hear the news and many sent messages of support to Avril.
‘Stay Strong Avril!! You still have us babe!! we love you,’ one commented on the post.
Another simply wrote: ‘Don’t do this to us, please..’
There’s been speculation about Avril and Chad’s marriage for some time, with rumours circulating last year that they’d been arguing.
The singers started dating in 2012 and tied the knot on Canada Day in July 2013.
It’s the second marriage for Avril, who was previously wed to Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. In a strange twist Deryck remarried just a few days before Avril’s announcement, having tied the knot with Ariana Cooper.
Avril and Chad’s break-up comes amidst a difficult time for the Complicated singer. Earlier this year she revealed that she’s been battling Lyme disease and is continuing with her recovery.
Chad has also had some health concerns recently. The rocker has recently had to cancel tour dates with Nickelback as he needs surgery for a cyst on his larynx.
