Nearly two years on from Paul Walker's tragic death, daughter Meadow sets up a foundation in his name
Paul Walker would have celebrated his 42nd birthday on Saturday and his daughter Meadow found the perfect way to mark the emotional day.
The 16-year-old shared a moving tribute to the late star on Instagram and revealed that she’s set up a foundation in his name to focus on the causes that he cared about.
Meadow posted an old snap of her and Paul, who was killed in a car accident aged 40 in November 2013, and movingly wrote: ‘Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions.
‘His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill.
‘I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world. I want to share that part of him with others.
‘I am tremendously proud to be launching The #PaulWalkerFoundation (@paulwalkerfdn) on his birthday. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my father. #DoGood’
The foundation’s website states that it aims to ‘protect our oceans, wildlife, and ourselves’, continuing Paul’s legacy of his passion for the sea.
Before becoming an actor famed for his role in the Fast And Furious movies, he studied marine biology and featured in a National Geographic documentary series about sharks.
Meadow writes on the website: ‘Growing up in Hawaii I developed a strong connection with the ocean.
‘My father loved the ocean, and was always teaching me new things. I want this foundation to do many good things including help others who share my father’s passion.’
Paul’s many fans were touched by Meadow’s emotive Instagram post and her decision to continue her dad’s good work.
‘I think what you’re doing is awesome & I support you 100%,’ one commented on the photo.
Another added: ‘He would be so proud of you. Keep being an amazing young woman, you’re slowly but surely following in his footsteps to greatness. <3 #PaulWalkerFoundation’
