From a Take That warbler to a Bollywood beauty, Now takes a look at the last 14 years of Celebrity Big Brother winners
Amid tears, tantrums and shock exits; the winner of this year’s Celebrity Big Brother will be announced on Friday and what better way to celebrate the 15 series than taking a look back at past winners?
2001: Winner – Jack Dee
Kicking off the first ever CBB saw stone-faced Jack Dee take the crown. Other housemates included Anthea Turner and Chris Eubank. How can we forget Vanessa Feltz‘s meltdown when she began scribbling all over the kitchen table using chalk. Weird or what?
2002: Winner – Mark Owen
Take That crooner Mark Owen was the last celeb standing after 10 days in the house. Other contestants were Les Dennis, Great British Bake Off‘s Sue Perkins and Jungle musician-and-actor Goldie. Remember Les opening up about his split from Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden? It got emosh…
2005: Winner – Bez Berry
Happy Mondays‘ Bez snatched the crown of the third series of CBB with his own maraca madness! He was accompanied by a diverse crowd including Germaine Greer, Caprice and Kenzie. When John McCririck wasn’t going on about ‘the booby’ his Diary Room breakdown over Diet Coke was a standout scene.
2006: Winner – Chantelle Houghton
As the first non-celeb on the show Chantelle was tasked with pretending to be from made-up girlband Kandy Floss. She fell in love with Ordinary Boys frontman Preston and the pair married after leaving the house…and then got divorced.
Other housemates included Pete Burns, who brought in a coat made from
gorilla fur, firebrand left-winger George Galloway and Dennis Rodman. In probably the most cringe-inducing moment in the show’s history MP
George Galloway pretended to be a cat in an awkward role-playing session
with Rula Lenska. If his constituents didn’t respect him for entering
the house, they surely didn’t after this display…
2007: Winner – Shilpa Shetty
Series 5 was the most controversial yet and saw record complaints to broadcast regulator Ofcom! Eeeek! For all the wrong reasons, Shilpa‘s argument with Jade Goody garnered the most attention. Often overshadowing Leo Sayer‘s shock exit when he ran out of clean underwear.
2009: Winner – Ulrika Jonsson
Despite receiving the most nominations during her 22 days in the house, the Swedish former weather girl topped the poll. She was joined in the house by Michelle Heaton, Austin Powers Mini-Me actor Verne Troyer and Mancunian motormouth Terry Christian.
2010: Winner – Alex Reid
Alex was more famous for his relationship with Katie Price than being a cage fighter but that didn’t stop his fight to reach the top. It was the final series to air on Channel 4 and saw Dane Bowers, Vinnie Jones, Lady Sovereign and Ivana Trump entertain viewers.
2011: Winner – Paddy Doherty
Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy used a touch of Irish charm to scoop the crown for the first series on Channel 5.
The exact line-up remained a mystery until launch night and it was the first time the celeb edition was done before the main show that year.
Other housemates were Amy Childs, Kerry Katona, Sally Bercow and Jedward.
2012: Winner – Denise Welch
Despite her blazing rows with Nicola McLean, the former Corrie star and Loose Women presenter captured the title in 2009. She shared the house with Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen, EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy and Natasha Giggs – who had recently been revealed as having had an affair with Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs, who’s brother she was married to.
Remember when Denise flashed her boobs in the jacuzzi with Frankie Cocozza watching? Ewww!
2012: Winner – Julian Clary
He was crowned the ‘Queen’ of the house despite tough competition from Loose Women star Coleen Nolan.
It had initially been announced that Facebook voting would be in effect for this series but due to technical issues, Channel 5 cancelled these plans.
2013: Winner – Rylan Clark
X Factor contestant Rylan was the last man standing. On day one, jockey Frankie Dettori and Rylan decided every housemate’s fate as to who would move in the Main House or the Basement. Joining them were Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, Gillian Taylforth and Paula Hamilton.
2013: Winner – Charlotte Crosby
Geordie Shore‘s Charlotte was crowned this series’ winner after 23 days.
On launch night, it was revealed there was a place adjacent to the Diary Room known as The Temple. Some celebrities would live in The Temple in secret, away from the rest of the housemates. Other ‘guests’ were Louie Spence, Ron Atkinson and Sophie Anderton.
2014: Winner – Jim Davidson
The controversial comic won the show after 27 days, the longest CBB run ever. Other housemates were Lionel Blair, Luisa Zissman, Dappy from N-Dubz and Evander Holyfield.
2014: Winner – Gary Busey
Hollywood actor Gary won the most recent show last summer. He was joined by Benefits Street‘s White Dee, Kellie Maloney and dancer James Jordan.
Who can forget Kellie entering the house as a woman after formerly going by the name Frank? Brave or what?
