X Factor judge Simon Cowell has revealed the wise words of advice he's given Louis Tomlinson ahead of the 1D star becoming a dad
Simon – dad to 20-month-old Eric – revealed the words of advice he’s given the One Direction star ahead of him becoming a dad early next year in an interview with Good Morning Britain.
1D fans were left shocked in July when it was revealed Louis – who is set to help Simon at this year’s X Factor Judges’ Houses – was expecting his first child with American Briana Jungworth after the pair enjoyed a fling earlier this year.
But Simon reckons that the baby will only change Louis’s life for the better, telling Susanna Reid: ‘I just said enjoy it.
‘If I had been his age and someone had said you’re going to have a baby, I’m not sure how I would have coped with it.
‘But he did call me and I said when you’ve embraced it you’ll be amazed how much you are going to love it and it will change your life for the better. And that’s it.’
Simon, who also shocked fans when he announced he was having a baby with Lauren Silverman in 2013, with son Eric arriving in February the next year, revealed he initially found fatherhood challenging – and that he can see himself in little Eric!
Si said: ‘I’m great with puppies, I’m not great with babies. Because a puppy will respond, [but] babies at a certain age don’t do anything so when he was about five or six [months old] I was like, ‘I just don’t know what to do!’ because he wasn’t reacting to me and I thought maybe he hates me.
‘And then suddenly one day they are talking, listening, responding, and now talking to him, communicating, whole different ball game, and also they sort of become a bit like you. Which I don’t know is a good thing or a bad thing! He’s a funny little thing.’
And it seems as though young Eric shares his media mogul dad’s passion for music – and the tot is even a 1D fan!
‘He loves music, and when I say loves it, loves it!’ the 56 year old said.
‘Fortunately one of the first records I got on tape of him playing along to was a One Direction record, so he’s got good taste.’
