After battling pneumonia, Sir Jimmy passes away

DJ and TV presenter Sir Jimmy Savile has passed away at the age of 84.

Best know for his TV series Jim’ll Fix It – making children’s wishes come true – Sir Jimmy also presented Top Of The Pops.

The former hospital porter had been suffering from pneumonia and died in Roundhay, Leeds, but cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Known for his trademark tracksuits, zany spectacles, gold chains and cigars, Sir Jimmy worked hard to raise funds for many charitable causes, including Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and was knighted by the Queen in 1990.

In 2008, his Scottish home was raided but the intruders took nothing – because the telly legend kept the cottage in Glencoe, rural Scotland empty of luxuries.

He didn’t even have a TV or radio in the house.

‘The burglars ram-raided my front door,’ he told the Daily Record. ‘There was nothing to take anyway. The only thing worth taking was half a bag of coal, which they left behind.’
