Mad Men actor Jon Hamm thanked Jennifer Westfeldt - who he split from just two weeks ago - as he collected the Emmy for Leading Actor
They may not be together any more, but that didn’t stop Jon Hamm thanking his now ex-girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt during his Emmys acceptance speech last night.
Just two weeks after the couple announced they were splitting, the Mad Men actor took (actually, clambered) to the stage in Los Angeles to accept the Leading Actor award, and made sure to name-check his former girlfriend of 18 years – as well as their dog, Cora. Sob!
‘I want to thank the people to whom I owe this incredible debt,’ the suave star said, before rattling off a long list of names, ending with: ‘Cora and Jen.’
‘Thank you all very much,’ he told them. ‘I would not be standing here without you.’
It was clearly an emotional evening for Jon as the he finally picked up an elusive Emmy, having been nominated a 16 times in total.
Jon and fellow actor Jennifer announced their split earlier this month in a joint statement to People, saying: ‘With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history.
‘We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward.’
The news came as a shock to some, given that Jon and Jennifer denied split rumours only a few months ago following 44-year-old Jon’s rehab stint for alcohol abuse.
Jennifer – who also works as a director, producer and writer – was credited with helping Jon following the 30-day treatment.
A statement at the time from Jon’s rep said: ‘With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction.
‘They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward.’
