After a sudden and surprise exit from Hollyoaks last month, Stephanie Davis talks about what really happened and her future plans

Last month, we were left shocked and confused when it was announced that Stephanie Davis was suddenly terminated from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.

The 22-year-old soap star had been playing Sinead O’Connor on the show since she was 16 and was our favourite sassy gal in Chester who said it like it was. So we were all DYING to know just what had happened for Stephanie to exit her long-time position on the soap.

At the time, a spokesman told The Mirror that her ‘contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption,’ and the actress’s agent confirmed that she had been sacked after showing up at work drunk despite previous warnings regarding attendance and punctuality.

But now, Stephanie has opened up about the incident and is telling her side of the story in a steamy photo shoot with Zoo magazine.

‘It was ultimately my choice to leave!’

‘I just walked and then the producers told me if I didn’t come back they’d have no option but to terminate my contract, but that it was my choice.’

Although it was Steph’s choice to leave, looking back, she does realise she could have handled the situation better. Don’t worry love, we’ve all been there – hindsight is a funny ol’ thing.

‘I regret the way it ended – I probably should’ve gone about it in a better way, but I was desperate for a break.’

Tell us about it Steph! Someone fly us off to Fiji NOW.

As for all the whispers about her drunker behaviour? Stephanie says that that was ‘there for people to believe if the wanted to’ but that people in the industry know what she’s really like.

Now that the Hollyoaks chapter in her life is finished though, what’s in store in the future for Stephanie? Well, with he getting her break on BBC talent show Over The Rainbow, that was in search for a new Dorothy for the West End version of The Wizard of Oz, she’s revealed that she’d like to return to singing.

‘My passion has always been music, so I’ve been working with a few record labels.’

‘The only other person I know to make the jump from soaps is Kylie Minogue – so let’s try to do that!’

We LOVE a bit of Kylie, so we’re all on board with a Kylie 2.0!
