After six months in a coma, Whitney Houston’s only child Bobbi Kristina Brown tragically loses her battle for life
The tragic news comes six months after Bobbi was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub. She spent several months in a medically induced coma before being transferred to a hospice in Georgia last month due to her failing health.
It’s three years since Bobbi’s mother Whitney passed away at the age of 48. In an eery similarity the singer was also discovered in the bath like her daughter came to be, though her passing was deemed to be due to an ‘accidental’ drug overdose.
Following Bobbi’s death on Sunday her heartbroken family released a statement saying: ‘She is finally at peace in the arms of God.
‘We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.’
A message was also posted on Whitney’s official website which read: ‘It is hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully.
‘The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. As Bobbi Kristina would say: “The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.”’
Bobbi was the only child of Whitney and her former husband Bobby Brown. Bobby – who has been married to Alicia Etheredge since 2012 and recently welcomed a daughter – is said to be ‘taking comfort in the fact that she’s with her mother, and that there will be no more sadness or pain. She is at peace.’
Tributes have been pouring in for the youngster following the tragic news, with a host of stars expressing their sadness on social media.
Kylie Jenner was amongst those to share their memories of Bobbi:
Meanwhile Oprah Winfrey – who was the first person to interview Bobbi after Whitney’s death in 2012 – shared her relief that the young star could now rest:
Sam Smith posted a photo of Whitney and Bobbi together when Bobbi was just a baby and movingly wrote: ‘The most heartbreaking tale.
‘May you both rest in peace, and find the happiness and contentment you couldn’t find in this world, in the next. My love and thoughts with all their family and friends on this sad night xx’
Singer Monica shared a particularly sweet memory of Bobbi, having shared an old snap of them on Instagram with the caption: ‘You kept telling me life wasn’t the same without Mommy❤️
‘In all this pain and every tear shed I find a small bit of peace knowing that your with her again…. Krissy I will forever love U…
‘I always loved when you would say “Mon I need a hug ” I would lift you off the ground LOL share those hugs & that beautiful smile in Heaven…’
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the family and friends of Bobbi Kristina.
