Throughout his career his battle with drugs and alcohol was well-documented.
He eventually left the band in June 1969.
Less than a month later, Brian was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool, aged just 27 – the cause of death has been subject to much controversy, but was ruled to be ‘misadventure’.
