We take a look at what happened next for nurse who became famous overnight back in the noughties...

Surprise, you’re famous

Back in the days when WAGs ruled supreme, there was also the likes of Abi Titmuss. Abi was a nurse, an aspiring actress and the other half of game show host John Leslie. She made a reality telly career for herself after a sex tape of her and John went public.

Bedside manner

Abi, 40, became famous after then-boyfriend John, 51, was accused then cleared of rape charges. A nurse at University College Hospital in London, she was pictured in her uniform on the front page of many newspapers in 2003. Speaking about their partying lifestyle, Abi revealed: ‘It seemed to have no beginning and no end. There was something to do every night. Before you know it, six months have passed and you’ve been out every single night.’

Caught on film

Cashing in on her fame, Abi began modelling for lads mags – and started to earn a reported £30,000 a day. John and Abi went their separate ways in 2004, but not before a sex tape had leaked of Abi, John and another woman. Abi, who’d quit her career as a nurse to become a roving reporter on Channel 4’s Richard & Judy, was left jobless.

Reality TV calls

Like many before her, Abi took the well-trodden path into reality TV, appearing on shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Celebrity Love Island. In 2006, she revealed that she’d had enough, saying: ‘It just hit me. There was such a disparity between that image and who I was. I was the embodiment of something for which I have no respect.’

What’s she up to now?

Abi decided she wanted to get back into acting, having studied at the Central School Of Speech And Drama in the past. She debuted on stage in Harold Pinter’s Two Way Mirror in 2006, before moving to LA in 2015 and changing her name to Abigail Evelyn. In 2016 she landed a part in US soap Days Of Our Lives, playing, yes, you got it – a nurse. You couldn’t make it up…

And it turned out to be a canny move, because not only did she meet the man who is now her fiancee, Ari Welkom, on the show – but on 3rd April she revealed that she’s pregnant with her first child by him! Speaking to Hello! magazine, she said: ‘I’m 15 weeks pregnant. I’m so excited about becoming a mum for the first time.’

She added: ‘I’d been bursting to share the news sooner but we hadn’t had the all-clear from the doctor so I had to hold back.’
