Debbie Douglas is the TOWIE star's biggest fan
What Debbie Douglas loves most about daughter Lydia Bright’s style is her vintage-inspired passion and how she effortlessly mixes old and new.
‘Lydia could be a Hollywood actress – she just has one of those faces and she’d look good in a potato sack!’ Debbie, 51, tells us.
‘I wouldn’t change anything about her style but I’d love to see her in a classic vintage dress or long ballgown made for a princess.
‘The children had a massive dressing-up box and as a child Lydia would spend hours trying on my high heels.
‘Her favourite film’s Enchanted, so dressing her up today is a dream come true for both of us.
‘We share an obsession with vintage clothing and a love of different eras.’
Debbie reckons 21-year-old Lydia’s best fashion moment was the TOWIE trailer where she threw a glass of champagne over James [Argent] wearing a hand-sewn black taffeta vintage dress that she picked up from a jumble sale for £2.50.
‘When I was her age I was a fashion buyer for Debenhams and had my own boutique,’ says Debbie, ‘so I’m proud she’s followed in my footsteps. When she designed her Lydia Rose Bright range, I worked with her closely on it.
‘We went though all my vintage style books and both our wardrobes and looked at the cuts, fabrics and techniques.
‘It’s been so rewarding to see the collection come to life. You’ve either got that flair or you haven’t.
‘It’s nature versus nuture – what you were born with and what you grow up with – and I think Lydia has it all.’
