'It was PERFECT!' Stars speak out about Amal Alamuddin - aka Mrs George Clooney - and THAT dream wedding dress
As if the world wasn’t already smitten enough with internationally acclaimed human rights lawyer Amal, she’s only gone and proved she’s got bags of style to go with those BIG ol’ brains too.
WOW-ing the world in the most beautiful wedding gownNow HQ has seen in yonks, Amal wore a custom Oscar de la Renta French lace wedding gown, hand-embroidered with pearls and with a full circular train. It’s the off-the shoulder cut that’s got Now giddy.
And why Oscar de la (costs more than a months Rent-ahhh)? ‘He’s such an elegant designer’, reveals Amal, 36. She’s got a point.
Actor George Clooney, 53, wore a Giorgio Armani suit and looked pretty darn Giorg-eous to boot. To complete the look, GC wore customised cufflinks, a gift from his bride, with ‘George’ inscribed in Arabic.
Asked how he feels about being married, George said: ‘It feels pretty damn great.’
Amal’s mother Baria was mighty chuffed with how things went too, telling PEOPLE magazine: ‘George and Amal radiated love all night. The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life.’
Baria – who is editor at the Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat – reveals: ‘I said, “George, we love you truly, deeply and sincerely. We enjoy your charm, your wit, intelligent conversation and generosity. You are simply perfect.”‘
We second that! [NB Nice skillz getting in with MIL too George].
Amal Alamuddin‘s friend Jae Kim agreed: ‘I had never seen her smile like that. She has had that smile now for almost a year straight!’
Be still our beating hearts…
George Swooney and Amal Alamuddin exchanged tradish vows and platinum bands at their wedding ceremony in Venice, Italy, on 27 September in front of family, and celebrity friends including actress Emily Blunt, actor Matt Damon, U2 frontman Bono and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Much like your average wedding, right!?
Clooney calls Venice ‘the most romantic city in the world’ so it was a natural choice for their wedding to take place: ‘We met in Italy, we have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married.‘
The ceremony took place in a gilded hall at Italy’s Aman Canal Grande Venice in front of 100 guests, who all took home a rather A-List party bag too. When asked whether guests took gifts home, George laughed: ‘Other than a hangover? Yes’.
Their wedding favours are believed to have included iPods loaded with a playlist chosen by the couple.
Smooth, funny, FIT. Oh George Clooney, you’ve done mighty well for yourself, Sir.
