High Street favourite heading for global domination

Fashion favourites H&M are heading for shopper’s paradise Japan to expand the brand.

Not content with cracking the UK and more recently New York, the new store will open in one of Tokyo’s prime shopping districts, Harajuku.

The Japanese are famed for their fashion sense and Harajuku is a mecca for hot, young fashionistas who dress up to the max (pictured). Gwen Stefani famously dances with ‘Harajuku girls’ as part of her stage act.

An 1,500sqm store is currently under construction and is expected to open in autumn 2008.

A spokesperson for the brand says: ‘Japan is an exciting market for H&M with fashion-conscious consumers.’
