So long silly stillies. As Cara Delevingne proves, the most fash shoes are as ready for the running track as they are for the runway
On behalf of feet everywhere, Burberry, thank you.
If you made blanket coats a thing for autumn/winter, you’ve now made trainers a thing for spring summer next year.
At London Fashion Week earlier this month ‘Burbs models, including Malaika Firth, Jourdan Dunn and Suki Waterhouse sashayed down the catwalk in an unusually sprightly fashion owing to the fact that their footwear was designed more for actual running than the runway.
Pairing diaphanous midi skirts with peplum denim jackets and mermaid scale detailing, head designer Christopher Bailey demo-ed that you can wear your trainers with pretty much anything.
And as if to further drive home the point, Cara Delevingne stole the FROW show in a navy stretch silk Burberry suit and a pair of killer multi coloured kicks.
Even Kate Moss didn’t see that style curveball coming, looking so very 2014 beside Cara in her stillie slingbacks.
All of which adds up to the fact that we can mothball our silly stillies for the foreseeable, safe in the knowledge that trainers will be reigning in fashion land at least until this time next year.
No word yet on how much a pair of actual Burberry trainers will cost, but in the meantime, we’ve rustled you up some high street hotties from a more real-world price of £12.99. Hell if you want to save even more of your hard earned, just invest in a pair of red laces, and say Cara made you do it.
Otherwise, make them colourful, make them chunky, then make for the number 94 bus of a morning smugly knowing you’re speedy and stylish all at the same time for once.
