The superstar, who was set to appear in Cats on Broadway while filming commences has thrown the whole production into chaos after pulling out at the last minute, opting to return to the talent show instead.
During an interview with The Economist, Andrew Lloyd Webber confirmed her return to the judging panel, revealing: ‘A week before we were going into rehearsal with Cats on Broadway, which luckily I am not producing, she calls me and tells me she wants to do X Factor. I mean, we had agreed everything – she’s crazy. The American producers were just like ‘oh we’ll get someone else’ because she’s not very well known in America amazingly, she’s much better known here.’
The 68-year-old also shared his disappointment at Sherzy’s decision, adding: ‘I’m furious because I really believe she’s the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here and it makes me look like an absolute twot with them all. But never mind, there will be another girl on Broadway and Nicole won’t get her Tony award.’
The former Pussycat Doll first appeared on the ITV show as a guest judge on the seventh season, temporarily replacing Dannii Minogue during the Manchester auditions. She later temporarily replaced Cheryl Cole during the bootcamp stage, where she was responsible for the formation of One Direction. Following that she secured a full time seat on the panel in 2012 for two series.
