As Cate Blanchett admits she's had romances with women, here are 7 celebs who have confessed to having bisexual dalliances

She’s been married to her husband Andrew Upton for 18 years, but Cate Blanchett shocked fans earlier this week when she revealed she has had romances with women ‘many times’ in the past.

When asked in an interview if her role in new film Carol, in which she plays a married older woman who has an affair with a very young woman in the film, is her ‘first turn as a lesbian’, Kate queried: ‘On film or in real life?’

And when pressed on whether any of her real life romances were with women, Cate confirmed she has had dalliances with females in the past. ‘Yes, many times,’ she said.

While there will be a love scene in Carol, between mum-of-four Cate and her co-star Rooney Mara, the actress said it isn’t explicit.

Here are 7 other female celebrities who have also admitted to having a dabble with people of the same sex in the past…

1. Miley Cyrus
Earlier this month, controversial popstar Miley, 22, admitted not all of her relationships have been ‘straight, homosexual ones’. The singer, who’s rumoured to have split from Patrick Schwarzenegger, added that her change in sexual preferences happened when she launched her charity, Happy Hippie Foundation, which aimed to help homeless teens, especially those coming from the LGBT community.

2. Drew Barrymore
In 2003, Drew, 40, admitted to having numerous affairs with women. ‘Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual,’ she said. The actress, who married art consultant Will Kopelman in 2012 and has two daughters, Olive, two and one-year-old Frankie, added: ‘I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman.’

3. Gillian Anderson
The former X Factor actress has admitted to being in a longterm relationship with a girl during her school days. In 2012, the 46 year old said, ‘I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school, and then I was in a relationship with a punk rock drug addict. …You know, I’m old enough that I can talk about that.’

4. Amber Rose
Kanye West’s ex girlfriend was frank about her bisexuality in an interview. ‘They label me a bisexual freak stripper that f*cks Kanye on a daily basis. To answer that: I’m extremely open with my sexuality. I can be in love with a woman, I can be in love with a man,’ she said. The 31-year-old, who tweeted she’s ‘def half lesbian’ in February after kissing Amy Schumer for the MTV Movie Awards ‘kiss cam’ continued: ‘If I see a woman and I think she’s beautiful and I like her, and she likes me back we can definitely try to be in a relationship together.’

5. Fergie
In 2009, the Black Eyes Peas star talked about how she explored her ‘lesbian side’ before she married Hollywood star Josh Duhamel. ‘I’ll put it this way, I’ve experimented definitely but I have never had a steady girlfriend,’ she said.

6. Kesha
The singer, 28, opened up about being bisexual in 2013. ‘I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with. I wouldn’t say I’m gay or straight – I don’t like labeling things anyway. I just like people.’

7. Rachel Evan Wood
The actress, who has dated rocker Marilyn Manson in the past, revealed on Twitter that she finds members of the same sex attractive. ‘I myself am
bisexual and have always “joked” about Miley giving me gay vibes. Not a bad
thing! Just an observation,’ she wrote.
