The X Factor winner to visit earthquake-hit country

Alexandra Burke is jetting off to Haiti on Monday.

The X Factor 2008 winner wants to see the devastation caused by last month’s earthquake first hand.

‘When [I was] asked if I would go to see the things for myself, I didn’t hesitate,’ Alex tells The Sun.

‘If I can raise awareness about how much support is needed then I’m there in a heartbeat.

‘I don’t think anyone can prepare for what it’ll be like but I’ll try to be strong.’

Alexandra, 21, features on Simon Cowell‘s charity cover of REM‘s 1993 hit Everybody Hurts in aid of victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The song will be available to download from 7 February.

All proceeds go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun‘s Helping Haiti campaign.
