Well a birthday card from the petrol station wouldn't have cut it, would it Angelina Jolie?
When you’re an international star like Angelina Jolie, a birthday card and cake just won’t cut it – especially when you’re hitting the big 4-0.
So it’s no surprise Brad Pitt has splashed out on a vintage plane for his wife’s milestone birthday today.
The couple have already visited a dealer in Europe and plan to store the plane on their very own runway at Chateau Miraval, France.
A bit extravagant but we reckon the star, who has her own pilot license, deserves it.
Angelina spent the last year of her thirties inspiring women around the world, after she revealed she had had her ovaries removed to dramatically reduce her risk of getting cancer.
The actress discovered she carries a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, which means she had an 87 per cent risk of developing breast cancer and a 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer before the op.
After having a double mastectomy two years ago, Angelina revealed in March that she had had a second operation to remove her ovaries.
The star, who has six children – Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 8, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 6 – lost her own mother to ovarian cancer at the age of 56.
Writing in the New York Times, Angelina said: ‘I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt. I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.’
She added that Brad had been an incredible support to her and that the health scare had focused her mind on what’s most important to her in her life.
She wrote: ‘The beautiful thing about such moments in life is that there is so much clarity. You know what you live for and what matters. It is polarising, and it is peaceful.’
