What is going on?

Yet another star of The Voice has been murdered, just days after Christina Grimmie‘s killing shocked the world.

Alejandro ‘Jano’ Fuentes, a former contestant on the Mexican version of the talent show, was gunned down as he celebrated his 45th birthday.

The singer was shot in the head three times in Chicago whilst sat in a car on Thursday night.

The currently unidentified gunman apparently walked up to the car and told Jano to get out. When he refused, the gunman opened fire.

The singer was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in a critical condition, and was pronounced dead at 2.07pm.

After appearing on the 2011 instalment of The Voice in his native Mexico, Jano went on to open a performing arts studio called Tras Bambainas, which taught young people singing, dancing, acting and modelling.

Just hours before its founder’s death, the studio shared a video of him blowing out candles on a cake whilst friends and staff sang Happy Birthday on its Facebook page.

The post read: ‘We hope that your life stays full of success, love and health. Happy Birthday!’

Following his death, friend Victor Gulley said: ‘He was one of the most talented people I have ever known.

‘He could sing, he could dance, he could write the music, perform it and most importantly he could teach it. I’ve never ever met anyone as talented as he was in those arenas.’

The news comes just days after Christina Grimmie, a former contestant on The Voice USA, was shot dead by what police have called a ‘deranged fan’ as she signed autographs outside her concert in Orlando, Florida.

Stars including Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Selena Gomez paid tribute to the 22-year-old singer after she died from her injuries a week ago on Saturday.
