Woah! Joan River’s doctor took a photo with the star as she lay unconscious!
At Now HQ, we were shocked to hear claims that Joan Rivers’ doctor, who is yet to be named, reportedly took a selfie with the star as she lay in a hospital bed under anesthesia shortly before.
The much-loved controversial comedienne, who died on 4 September, checked in for a routine throat procedure at the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic in Manhattan on 27 August.
After receiving her scheduled operation by Dr Lawrence Cohen, a second, unauthorised doctor apparently entered the room, took out his camera-phone and snapped a photo with Joan as she lay unconscious.
While a fun night-out selfie can be a bundle of laughs, this claim, made by a member of staff at the clinic, is just a step too far.
As well as taking a selfie, Joan’s doctor reportedly performed an un-planned biopsy on the actress which investigators are hinting could be the reason behind her sudden cardiac arrest, leading to Joan’s death a week later.
Joan had an incredible send off at her star-studded funeral, which took place last Sunday at Temple Emanu-El in New York.
Actor Hugh Jackman, who revealed that Joan had requested he perform at her funeral, described the event as ‘amazing’.
‘I must admit, I’ve been to several funerals and I’ve always kind of felt for the person who has to sing,’ admitted Hugh. ‘She had seen me in a show called The Boy from Oz, which I did on Broadway. And I sang a song from that.’
‘It was called Quiet Please, There’s a Lady on Stage. The entire audience in the synagogue got up and started clapping and cheering – the whole thing was very uplifting, very touching and moving, but funny,’ he added.
Joan, who died aged 81, wrote in 2012 about how she wanted her funeral ‘to be a huge showbiz affair’. Looks like you got it Joan. The Hollywood star drew in the likes of Sarah Jessica-Parker, Whoopi Goldberg, Donald Trump and Kelly Osbourne – to name a few.
RIP Joan Rivers. Gone but never forgotten.
