George goes on a playdate in New Zealand

Prince George has made quite an impression on his first royal engagement in New Zealand.

The 8-month-old tot enjoyed a playdate with other babies at Government House in Wellington on Wednesday as Kate Middleton and Prince William met fellow mums and dads.

Confident George – looking cute in dungarees and a white top – happily interacted with the children and seemed to enjoy the array of toys on offer, even stealing some from fellow playmates.

The young Prince did lots of crawling about but was also held by Kate, 32, while the Duchess talked to other parents.

George seemed to want his mum’s attention though and cheekily tugged at her famous hair before putting it in his mouth.

The informal event was attended by 10 sets of parents and their offspring, causing William, 31, to joke: It’s madness, there are babies everywhere.’

Kate and Wills have a busy schedule ahead for their 3-week tour of New Zealand and Australia but George will only accompany them on a few engagements, depending on his mood at the time.
