The birth of Greg Rutherford’s baby is sure to outshine any gold medal!

Olympic champion, Greg Rutherford, and his girlfriend, Susie Verrill, have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy rumoured to be named Milo. Congrats!

Susie announced the exciting news Monday morning by tweeting a cute pic of the newborn gripping onto her finger along with the caption: ‘And then there were three…’.

We can only assume that the 24-year-old social media assistant went into labour on Sunday after the couple’s friends noticed Susie’s lack of tweets during The X Factor results show.

Posting on Twitter, one of the couple’s pals wrote: ‘Hang on, @rugbycupcakes isn’t live tweeting X Factor. Has she finally gone into labour?!’

In August, Greg, 27, revealed that their baby was due on October 16 – obviously this little bubba was keen to come out and only made his parents wait a further two days.

As for the name Milo; whilst it hasn’t yet been confirmed, Susie’s brother, Paddy Verrill, kinda gave the game away when he tweeted his congratulations to the happy couple yesterday morning:
‘Congratulations to my sister @rugbycupcakes and @GregJRutherford on the birth of baby Milo! He’s beautiful.’

Over the summer, Greg revealed how excited he was about becoming a dad.

‘I just can’t wait to be around baby. I think the first time baby recognises me and smiles is going to be one of the most amazing times of my life to be honest,’ gushed the long jump star.

‘I also can’t wait to play with baby. It will be good fun finding out what sport baby’s good at, perhaps it will be something obscure. My parents were fantastic at taking me to training sessions and letting me try lots of different sports, so I want to do the same,’ he added.

Despite finding out in February that Susie was pregnant, the new parents announced their baby news back in May by tweeting a photo of a baby scan. Speaking about Susie and her pregnancy, Greg admitted that his long-term girlfriend wasn’t suffering too much.

‘She hasn’t massively enjoyed the heat and she was feeling quite rough with morning sickness for the first three months, but apart from that, she’s really enjoying it,’ he said.

We’re sure Greg and Susie will make fantastic parents. We’re looking forward to the first baby snaps already!
